My New Year's resolution isn't something trivial like going to the gym, calling my grandmother more, or feeding the homeless. No, my new year's resolution is much more important – it's to get more students to attend FSCJ athletic events.

I'm not sure how to go about this task other than asking, good old-fashioned begging, or maybe "Tebowing," so I will try another approach.

Put yourself in their shoes. Imagine you are doing something in your life that you are passionate about and when you are doing said task, you have a crowd of people cheering you on. Don't you think you would get a better score on that psychology test if you knew your classmates cared enough to show up and cheer you on? There is no doubt in my mind you could achieve a higher death-to-kill ratio playing Call of Duty if your living room was filled with rabid fans chanting your name.

The point is that by attending these games, you are not only able to witness some high quality collegiate sports, but you will also be able to help your fellow alumni reach a higher level of success.

They call it home field advantage for a reason. The reason is most teams typically play better on their own turf. That advantage is based on student support, and lately FSCJ has not had much of an advantage.

A great new way to follow FSCJ sports is now available on Facebook. Just search "Florida State College Athletics" on Facebook and "Like" the page. You will receive updated scores and be notified of upcoming events on your News Feed.

So do yourself a favor and check out a game or match during the spring semester. You have your choice between Men's or Women's Basketball, Women's Tennis, Baseball, or Softball.

Please go watch a game or match or both, because my knee is getting sore from all this Tebowing.
