Most Americans ride for the excitement, some ride for the thrill, but 29-year-old FSCJ professor, Chris Markl rides for courage. FSCJ's new and upcoming professor Chris Markl is sponsoring a 1,800 mile bike ride for Kenya. "My main purpose for the ride is to raise money to improve poverty in Kenya," said Chris. "It is also an opportunity for people, regular average Joes to do something exciting in they're life. Something that can make them look back on this experience and feel good about what they did," said Chris.

Chris, along with other entrepreneurs he is working with, have teamed up with his non-profit organization, Kourage, Inc, to conquer the quest of a fundraiser as important and exciting as this event.

"Kourage, Inc, a nonprofit organization I created 2 years ago, is an organization that works with young and upcoming entrepreneurs in the fashion industry from Kenya," said Chris. "We help them expand globally as well as create jobs and a better way of living in this country."

Along with the ride, Kourage, Inc and Chris are also working on athletic apparel that is designed by Kenyan designers.

"I am hoping to inspire people to help with the issues of poverty especially in countries like Kenya, but my main goal is to raise money for Kourage, Inc, so that we can make this happen," said Chris. "Everybody is welcome to join us on this sense of adventure and thrill. We encourage all from college students to seniors if you have the motivation and the passion to help people live a better life and can relate to our vision, then I encourage you to ride along. It can be a very exciting experience," said Chris.

Chris is looking to change the world and make a statement to the people of society who have the same passion as he does. It's amazing how one voice can reach a ton of volunteers and a ride will reach and change a ton of people's lives in Kenya forever.

If you are ready to hit the road for an adventure, you can get more information on this event or to register for the Kenya ride go to www.kourageride.org.
