The JM Family College Internship Program is designed to create an opportunity for college students to have meaningful work experiences that tie to their programs of study. The Southeast Toyota Distributors business unit is hiring onsite interns for a 12 week paid internship in Jacksonville, FL. Students must be available to intern from May 24 - August 13, 2021. Students in the program will actively contribute to their team's success, learn about JM Family's company and culture and obtain new skills through learning opportunities and networking events. The individual selected for this internship will be responsible for supporting their department in a variety of functions and will have exposure to activities related to the department's initiatives. The onsite intern will also gain access to professional development opportunities through the JM Family virtual internship program. Some of these opportunities include business presentation skills classes, lunch and learns and career readiness workshops.

Southeast Toyota Distributors, LLC is the world s largest independent distributor of Toyota vehicles. The company distributes vehicles, parts and accessories to 177 independent Toyota dealers in the five-state region of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and North and South Carolina.


Southeast Toyota's Operations department has an opportunity for a full-time paid summer internship at our Vehicle Processing Center (VPC) in Jacksonville FL. The student intern will assist the team in a variety of functions to improve operational performance.

This will include, but is not limited to:

  • Participate in process mapping and data collection in a production environment focusing on vehicle and data flow.
  • Develop a dataset of available vehicle damage information.
  • Assist in identifying root cause areas.
  • Establish an ongoing reporting plan for accountability and to drive improvement.
  • Adhere to safety and quality policy and procedures and support site compliance objectives.
  • Other projects or duties assigned by manager.


  • Pursuing Bachelor s degree in Engineering with focus in Industrial, Manufacturing or equivalent and maintaining a satisfactory grade point average (3.0 minimum)
  • Experience and/or completed coursework related to time & motion studies.
  • Microsoft Excel experience with data entry and basic macro development desired
  • Microsoft PowerPoint experience developing and delivering presentations
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Self-motivated, organized and able manage multiple priorities and projects effectively.
  • Ability to work under time constraints and manage complexity effectively
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including highly effective verbal and written communication skills
  • If student lives outside of the local area, must be willing to relocate and work onsite at our Jacksonville facility for the summer.
  • Our onsite teams have established and implemented consistent COVID-19 prevention procedures across our Jacksonville and Commerce production facilities. Our student intern must adhere to COVID-19 prevention procedures to include social distancing, daily temperature screenings and appropriate usage of masks while in the workplace.
  • Willing/able to work outdoors, in non-climate-controlled environments and prepared to adapt to changing weather conditions. Daily responsibilities include working on concrete and asphalt surfaces, standing and walking, full range of motion is required to perform work functions.
    • Our Vehicle Processing Center s core hours are Monday through Friday from 6:00 am - 2:15 pm.
