Intern Project:Create an efficient referral workflow system for community members inquiring about YMCA Health Intervention Programming.As a healthy living intern, the ultimate goal is to build relationships among community members and partners. Through this internship there will be opportunity to shadow current evidence base programming, review current referral systems, assist with quality assurance of program implementation, research sustainability efforts, and develop marketing material for Y Health Solutions.As an intern, you will learn the foundations of Listen First skills, other marketing and communication techniques.Qualifications and Desired skills:* Good organizational and execution skills, focus on detail* Strong team player who can work independently* Enjoys collaborating and takes directions from other team mates* High level of written and oral communication.* Comfortable with public speaking and facilitation* Good knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint* Excellent customer service requiredResponsibilities and Duties:* Attend Healthy Living Programs and Services* Specific activities would include assisting with check in process, evaluating the flow of the event, assisting with marketing of events, and providing feedback of event opportunities* Identify opportunities for growth through referrals* Specific activities would include, but not limited to, desktop research, survey and/or on-site visit* Communicate with various health care professionals in cardiovascular, neurological, and primary care, about the Y services.* Assess communities needs for diabetes prevention programming* Partnership Development: Work closely Healthy Living Innovations team to identify & build long term relationships with strategic partners in pursuit of growth opportunities.* Specific activities would include calling health care partners & Y facilities about services offered through the Y, organizing and attending meetings with external parties to discuss strategic collaboration opportunities, & handling external and internal communications* Additional responsibilities may include:* Supports in performing various analytical special projects, including working with spreadsheet, presentation and/or database applications to create reports for department or office meetings.* Collaborates with staff and departments in preparing special projects.* Special administrative tasks as they arise.Interns who apply for the YMCA Internship will learn all the necessary skills to provide them with the tools and resources to connect organizations for better membership engagement and services.YMCA Competencies (Leader):Values: Accepts and demonstrates the Y's values.Community: Demonstrates a desire to serve others and fulfill community needs.Inclusion: Works effectively with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions, and perceptions.Relationships: Builds rapport and relates well to others.Self-Development: Pursues self-development that enhances job performance.Communication: Listens for understanding and meaning; speaks and writes effectively.Decision-Making: Makes sound judgments, and transfers learning from one situation to another.Hours and Days:Interns are expected to work between 20-35 hours per week on programs and projects with in the 5 county service area. The bulk of the day (9am-5pm, Monday-Friday) with some evening & weekend program events/meetings.Intern candidates who agree to participate in YMCA internships assume responsibilities for learning about the nature of the work of the YMCA, its aims, policies and procedures. While actively associated with the YMCA of Florida's First Coast, he/she agrees to exhibit our core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility in all aspects of work as an intern with the YMCA and abide by all YMCA policies, rules and procedures. Additionally, the intern agrees to fulfill all assigned tasks to the best of his/her ability, making no significant changes in the established schedule without prior knowledge of the YMCA and partnering organization.
