Learn more at , and ternship Program:Self-Help/CRL offers a 10 week summer internship program that is designed to give students valuable experience in a professional setting while broadening their knowledge of Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI's). Participants may also expand their knowledge of The Center for Responsible Lending (CRL) works which ensures a fair, inclusive financial marketplace that creates opportunities for all credit-worthy borrowers, regardless of their income Along with each specific intern project, the intern will participate in a series of brownbag lunches to learn more about Self-Help and the Community Development industry as a whole. Interns will also be given the opportunity to network with one another and other Self-Helpers through a variety of planned ternship Description:Employ an intern to help in researching, identifying, and developing targeted strategies for outreach for business development opportunities and deployment of financial capability building services into the community/ neighborhoods at and around Edward Waters College, e.g., New Town (and College Park), Mixon Town, Durkeeville, North Riverside, Rail Yard District and adjoining areas in the near-Westside (around Self-Help Credit Union's Lenox Branch).Identify, obtain, organize, and document information on grassroots organizations, community leaders, and neighborhood groups to contact and with which to develop relationships.Identify and segment membership candidates to be reached; obtain contact information.Design flyer(s), presentation outline and call script for virtual meeting or telephone engagement.Help identify and plan handout, mailing, Internet, and phone call outreach and follow up tactics.Identify areas of engagement for community development investment consideration.Produce a report detailing where are good opportunities for development.Essential Responsibilities:Independent formation assessment & organization.Self-confidence & verbal communication skills.Collaborative demeanor / team player.Credentials, Experience and Skills:Familiarity with personal computer and internet/web services.Analytical and statistical experience.Physical Requirements:Frequently requires use of manual dexterity and repetitive motions, primarily with the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
